HealthPartners - Preparing for childbirth

CESAREAN

BIRTH

In the Recovery Room If your baby is doing well, a nurse will place them on your chest right after birth. If the baby needs extra support, they will be placed in a warming bed in the operating room. After everything is completed in the operating room, you and your baby will go to a recovery room or back to the LDR room. During recovery, your health care team will see if you need any pain medication, watch for vaginal bleeding, and check your incision site. Your partner can stay with you. This is a great time for the first breastfeeding.
