Day 3 Tips: Continue to track feedings and baby’s wet and dirty diapers each day. 1. Increase baby’s formula volume according to baby’s cues. 2. Signs baby is getting enough to eat:

– Baby may have at least 3 wet diapers in a 24 hour period. – Baby may have at least 3 dirty diapers in a 24 hour period. 3. Baby may still continue to lose weight. Babies may lose up to 10% of their birthweight during the first week after birth. This is normal.

DAY 4 GOALS: • At least 8–12 feedings in 24 hours • SSC before feedings • 4 wet diapers • 3–4 dirty diapers — may be greenish or brown

Day 4 Tips: Continue to track your baby’s feeding amounts and wet and dirty diapers each day on these logs after you go home. 1. Be sure you and your support person understand baby’s discharge instructions. 2. Know when your baby’s pediatrician appointment is scheduled. 3. Take these feeding logs and baby’s hospital papers to baby’s first office visit.
